Philadelphia Soul News Release
PITTSBURGH (May 2, 2014) - The Philadelphia Soul continue to lift our spirits week after week. After capturing their third win of the season, the Soul (3-3) head back on the road to battle the Pittsburgh Power (3-3) on Saturday, May 3 at 7 p.m. Both teams will battle in the "Keystone Collision" at the CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, PA. This game will be broadcast on The Comcast Network with Lou Tilley and Tom Goodhines calling the action.
Soul head coach Clint Dolezel has his team on a three-game winning streak and will be put to the test this week. QB Dan Raudabaugh earned the AFL's Russell Athletic Offensive Player of the Week honors when he completed 26-of-35 passes for 283 yards and nine touchdowns, including the game-winning score with three seconds to play, in Philadelphia's 60-55 victory over the Iowa Barnstormers. His nine touchdowns represent Raudabaugh's highest single-game total since his career-high 11-touchdown performance against the Tampa Bay Storm on June 29, 2012.
Soul defensive back Rayshaun Kizer has continued to lead the Soul secondary. Not only does he lead his team defensively with 35.5 tackles and 10 pass breakups, but he also won AFL MVP for Week 6 of the 2014 NET10 Wireless Arena Football League season. Another player that has proven himself defensively is Soul defensive lineman T.J. Langley. He received the Riddell Defensive Player of the Game during Week 7 against the Barnstormers with his 2.5 sack performance. He and AFL Rookie of the Year candidate Teddy Jennings have combined for 7.5 sacks this season.
The Pittsburgh Power head coach Ron James has a team full of dedicated players as well. Power quarterback and former AFL MVP Tommy Grady leads the Pittsburgh offense and has completed 141-of-250 passes for 1,501 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions. Fullback Tommy Taggart leads his team in rushing with 63 yards and six touchdowns and has provided the punch to the Power rushing attack this season. Power wide receiver Shaun Kauleinamoku is also making a name for himself. He leads his team in receiving with 43 receptions, 592 yards and eight touchdowns. Kauleinamoku also scored the last touchdown during the Gladiators game.
Each team has an abundant amount of talent. Although this is true, a strong matchup that everyone should keep an out for is two of the best wide receivers in the league. Soul Ryan McDaniel and Power Aaron Lesue bring the heat to each and every game. McDaniel leads his team in receiving with 48 receptions, 632 yards and 10 touchdowns. Lesue also leads his team with 59 receptions, 610 yards and 12 touchdowns. Don't miss these two as they play their hearts out.
Tiger Jones returned to his All-Arena form by hauling in five touchdowns in last week's win. On the season, Jones has 42 catches for 494 yards and a team-leading 16 TDs.
The Soul will return home for Week 9 when they will play the New Orleans VooDoo on Saturday, May 10 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
