AMARILLO, TEXAS This Saturday, the Amarillo Dusters face their toughest challenge of the 2008 season as they take on the Lubbock Renegades. The Renegades only two losses this season have come from the number one and number two teams in the af2 as ranked by the head coaches, the Tulsa Talons and the Spokane Shock.
The Dusters will be hosting a special Ladies and Cancer Awareness night in honor of Mothers Day Weekend. The players will be in special, limited edition, pink and black jerseys, sponsored by Britkare. Each jersey will be auctioned off immediately following the game with the proceeds benefiting the Children's Miracle Network.
"Fans are definitely in for a great arena football experience this weekend," said head coach Chris MacKeown.
A win against the Renegades would give Amarillo more wins in the first seven games of the season than they had in both 2006 and 2007. A win would also continue the home winning streak for the Dusters.
"There is no doubt that this will be a challenge," MacKeown said. "The Renegades have played well against some of the toughest teams in the league, so we are preparing for a battle."
This will be the first of three times this season that the Dusters and the Renegades will face each other. In 2007, Lubbock came out on top, winning two of the three games against Amarillo.
"You can sense the rivalry between these two teams," MacKeown said. "Most of these guys have never played each other as Dusters and Renegades, yet the rivalry is still brewing."
The af2 coaches poll for week 7 ranked the Dusters at number nine and the Renegades at the number 10 spot.
