Auburn Hills, Mich. -The Detroit Fury of the Arena Football League announced today that kicker Nick Gatto has won the AFL's Kicker of the Month award for his performance in the month of May. It is the first time in Gatto's two-year career that he has won an award from the AFL.

Gatto has been a clutch performer for the Fury all season, since joining the team in week eight. With the Fury, Gatto has hit on 41-of-48 PAT's and 5-of-9 on field goals. In the month of May, Gatto hit 20-of-22 PAT's and was a perfect 2-for-2 on field goals. Gatto was also a reliable tackler on special teams this season, making five touchdown-saving tackles on kickoff and field goal return coverage.

"Nick has been consistent in everything we have asked him to do," said Fury Head Coach Al Luginbill. "He is an inspiration to our team and is respected by all of his teammates. As a coach, I have a tremendous amount of respect for what he has given to our team."
