Detroit Fury News Release

AUBURN HILLS, MICH.-Shawndel Tucker scored three touchdowns and Robert Gordon and Chuck Levy each added one apiece, as the Detroit Fury kicked off their preseason with a convincing 32-27 win over the Buffalo Destroyers Saturday night at The Palace of Auburn Hills. With the win, the Fury pick up their first ever preseason victory.

In the opening frame, Detroit used a strong defense coupled with a short, but solid effort from new QB Rickey Foggie. Foggie hit Gordon at 11:20 to give the Fury a lead that they would never relinquish. Foggie played just the first quarter, completing 4-of-7 passes for 75 yards.

Tucker scored the opening two TDs in the second quarter, before Buffalo's Jarrail Jackson pulled in an 11-yard toss from Fred McNair with just 22 seconds left in the half.

After a scoreless third quarter, Levy's strike came at 10:35 off a 10-yard pass from Craig Strickland. Derek Baker (55 yards) and Jackson (56 yards) each returned kickoffs for TDs, sandwiched around Tucker's third TD of the night.

Strickland went 7-of-22 for 62 yards and two TDs and Drew Miller completed 7-of-10 for 94 yards and two strikes.

Kelvin Kinney picked up a six-yard sack and Kevin Scott intercepted a McNair pass to contribute to Detroit's masterful defensive effort.

The Fury completes the preseason on Tuesday, April 9 at The Palace when they host the Arizona Rattlers at 7:30 PM. The game is free to all fans. Fans can print up a voucher on www.detroitfury.com or call the Palace Box Office for more information.
