Full Steam Ahead for Admirals as Kitsap Joins IBL

Published on March 14, 2013 under International Basketball League (IBL) News Release

Vancouver, Wash. - The International Basketball League has strengthened its presence in Washington state with the addition of the Kitsap Admirals as a branding team for the upcoming 2013 season.

The Admirals, based in Bremerton, Wash., under the guidance of owners Ashley and Erica Robinson, were formed as an expansion team in the American Basketball Association in 2012 and wrap up their inaugural season later this month. Going forward, the Admirals intend on operating year round, competing in both the IBL this spring and in the ABA next winter.

The Robinsons brought the Admirals to Bremerton with the mission of creating a winning team on the court and a positive impact in the community.

"We strive to set a standard of integrity, honesty and professionalism by providing high quality programs while empowering and developing the future leaders of tomorrow," explained Ashley Robinson when asked about the goals of his organization.

As a branding team, the Admirals will participate in five games this spring, with two home games taking place at their home venue of Olympic High School in Bremerton on Sunday, May 19 and Sunday, June 2. Unique to the IBL, the branding team concept allows new teams to participate in a portion of the regular season to determine the viability of their market prior to becoming a full season team within three years.

Ashley and Erica boast years of outstanding leadership experience as military veterans and small business owners. In addition, Ashley is no stranger to basketball in Washington state, having played several seasons for a number of IBL teams in the Puget Sound area and he also played collegiately at Olympic College where he was known as a passionate competitor.

Ashley will also serve as the Admirals' head coach for the 2013 IBL season and expects a number of current players to remain with the team. More information on the team's roster will be announced in April.
