San Diego defeated North Carolina, 2-1, behind goals from Gia Corley and Mel Barcenas. Corley struck in the 23rd minute for her first goal of the season to put the hosts in front, and Mel Barcenas doubled their lead in the 72nd minute after a great solo run and finish at the far post. However, North Carolina applied late pressure when forward Ashley Sanchez scored her 19th goal of the season in the 82nd minute to give her side a chance at at least a point. In the end, however, San Diego would hold on and earn another big win.
