FRISCO, Tex. (February 16, 2008) - Training camp report from the Frisco Thunder on Feb. 16, 2008
SUMMARY: The Frisco Thunder kicked off training camp Saturday with a spirited two-hour workout.
"It was a great first day,'' said Thunder head coach Troy Esprit. "A lot of enthusiasm and a good level of competition. Again, a great first day of work."
DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE: This was Esprit's first practice as a head coach. No difference in the big picture, though. "My goals have always been the same," Esprit said. "Win a championship and get my players to the next level."
ON OFFENSE: Esprit was pleased with the effort of QB Wes Cooper. "He looked good as both a quarterback and a team leader," Esprit said of Cooper.
ON DEFENSE: Plano East product Chris Johnson made the best first-day impression on defense. "Chris surprised us,"Esprit said. "For someone who has never played the indoor game, Chris adapted quite well today."
A playoff team its expansion season, the Thunder hosts the opening game of the 2008 Intense Football League season on Saturday, March 1st at 6 p.m. against the San Angelo Stampede Express.
