Frisco Thunder News Release

FRISCO, Tex. - Offensive lineman James Tenner, who had a brief stay with the Dallas Cowboys in 2000-01, has signed with the Intense Football League's Frisco Thunder, Head Coach Troy Esprit announced today.

Tenner (6-2, 345) signed with the Cowboys in 2000 following a stand-out career at Alcorn State University. He broke his wrist in a preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles and spent the remainder of his time on injured reserve and the practice squad.

Following his release, Tenner went on to play for the Macon (Ga.) Knights and Columbus (Ga.) WarDogs of af2. After a three-year layoff, Tenner returned to the field last year with the IFL's Katy RuffRiders. Signing with Frisco allows Tenner to play closer to his home in Irving, where he is a school teacher.

"It's a big difference being 45 minutes away from home rather than four hours,'' Tenner said. "My family and I are excited about this opportunity. It's always good to be at home."

Tenner's experience will be as big a contribution to the Thunder as his size, according to Esprit.

"Games are won up front, and I want an experienced player anchoring my line," Esprit said. "Not only can James help us win ball games, he can help develop some of our younger players."

A playoff team in their inaugural season, the Thunder hosts the opening game of the 2008 Intense Football League season on Saturday, March 1st at 6 p.m. against the San Angelo Stampede Express. All home games will be played on the EDS Credit Union Field in the Deja Blue Arena, located in the Frisco Dr Pepper StarCenter. Season and individual tickets are available now at 972-731-6968.
