Fresno's Ortega Named 2013 PCL Trainer of the Year

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Eric Ortega of the Fresno Grizzlies has been named the 2013 Pacific Coast League Athletic Trainer of the Year by the Professional Baseball Athletic Trainers Society (PBATS), the league announced today.

The Athletic Trainer of the Year award was earned by Ortega after being selected by his peers.

Ortega is now among the 17 league winners across Minor League Baseball to be considered for Minor League Athletic Trainer of the Year, which will be announced and awarded at the Winter Meetings this upcoming December in Orlando, Florida.

Ortega is in his second season with the Grizzlies and eighth season overall in the San Francisco Giants organization. The Watsonville, California resident has worked with the AZL Giants (2006-07), Class Low-A Augusta (2008), and Double-A Connecticut/Richmond (2009-11).

Ortega earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Cal State Sacramento in 2003 and is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
