Freedom K Justin Hoover Named IFF Special Teams Player Of The Week

May 1, 2008 - Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL)
Fort Wayne Freedom News Release

The CIFL league office has announced that Fort Wayne Freedom K Justin Hoover has been named the www.IndoorFootballFan.com Special Teams Player of the Week for the CIFL for the week of April 21-28. It is the first such honor given to a Freedom player this season.

Hoover was perfect on the night, going 7-for-7 on PATs and 2-for-2 on FGs, accounting for 13 points in the Freedom's 55-40 win over the Marion Mayhem. Even more impressive is the fact that Hoover did it with a strained quadriceps, a nagging injury that he has had most of the season.

Hoover is also recovering from a separated shoulder he suffered while making a tackle only two weeks ago, on the road against the Muskegon Thunder. In that game, Hoover missed only part of the 2nd quarter while having his shoulder taped and immobilized, then he returned and finished the game.

Hoover and the Freedom (3-3) will ride their two-game win streak into Miami Valley (2-5) this Friday, May 2nd. The Freedom opened their season with a 52-48 home win over the Silverbacks on March 21st. The defeat began a 5-game slide for the Silverbacks that didn't end until last week's win over the Milwaukee Bonecrushers (0-6).

The Freedom returns home on Saturday, May 10th to take on the Saginaw Sting (5-2). Kickoff is at 7:00pm at Memorial Coliseum, and great seats are still available. To order tickets, contact Ticketmaster at (260) 424-1811.
