Four Players Sign Contracts

The final roster spots for the NWHL's fourth season are being nailed down before regular season actions begins the first weekend in October. In addition to the previously announced Alexa Gruschow, here is a brief recap of the other signings this week.

Minnesota Whitecaps

Amy Schlagel: Originally selected 18th overall in the 2017 NWHL Draft by Buffalo, Schlegel is returning to her home state of Minnesota to play for the Whitecaps. A 5-7 defender, she played at the University of New Hampshire from 2014 until 2018. In 138 games at UNH, Schlagel was 36-33-69. Previously, she played at Coon Rapids and Blaine High School.

Lisa Martinson: The 5-5 defender returns to the Whitecaps for their inaugural NWHL season. Martinson played collegiately at St. Cloud State from 2009 - 2013.

Connecticut Whale

Kim Tiberi: A 5-9 defender, Tiberi is the latest star from Norwich to join the Whale. Over the last two seasons, the native of Raleigh had 17 goals and 41 assists for 58 points in 58 games.

The Whale have now signed four of the six members of the 2018 AHCA Division III East All-American First Team: Tiberi, forwards Sarah Hughson and Melissa Sheeran, and goaltender Sam Walther.

Metropolitan Riveters

Alexa Aramburu: The forward returns home to New Jersey after playing her first year of pro with the Toronto Furies of the CWHL. Aramburu, 23 and from Glenn Rock, N.J., played four years at SUNY Oswego before being selected 30th overall in the 2017 CWHL Draft.
