Hamilton Nationals News Release

Four draft picks of the Hamilton Nationals were named to the USILA 2012 Division I All-American Teams. Princeton defenseman Chad Wiedmaier garnered First Team honors, while Matt Lovejoy, Kiel Matisz and Joe Resetarits were also honored by the USILA.

Wiedmaier, who was the Nationals' first-round pick, was the first four-time First Team All-Ivy League men's lacrosse player in Princeton history. The defenseman was also only the second in Ivy League history to achieve that feat, joining former Cornell midfielder Max Siebald. Wiedmaier is expected to make his MLL debut next week as Hamilton travels to play the expansion Charlotte Hounds at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 2nd.

Lovejoy, who played at the University of Virginia and might also make his MLL debut in Charlotte, was named a Second Team defenseman. In 2012, he led the Cavaliers with 26 caused turnovers, while playing in all 16 games. Lovejoy also collected 31 ground balls. The defending NCAA Champs finished the season 12-4. Lovejoy was Hamilton's fourth-round selection (31st overall) in the 2012 MLL Collegiate Draft.

For Stoney Creek's Kiel Matisz, he earned Third Team All-American honors after a remarkable senior season at Robert Morris. This season, the midfielder was named the 2012 NEC Player of the Year and NEC Offensive Player of the Year. The three-time All-NEC First Team selection was a 2012 Tewaaraton Award nominee and ended his season with 40 goals and 24 assists in 15 games. He set the single-season school record for points and posted the second most in goals and assists. Matisz has played in two games with the Nationals and has scored one goal.

The final National honored by the USILA was attackman Joe Resetarits of the University at Albany with Honorable Mention status. Resetarits, who led the America East Conference in scoring this season, was the conference Player of the Year. He finished his career with the Great Danes with 169 points (125+44) in 50 games. Resetarits ranked seventh nationally with 4.13 points per game and fourth in goals per game at 2.94. He made his professional debut on May 18th.

Next weekend, the Nationals will play the Charlotte Hounds on national TV on the CBS Sport Network. Hamilton will return home on Saturday, June 9th to host the Rochester Rattlers at 7:30 p.m. at McMaster University.
