Forward Madison FC News Release
Forward Madison FC hit the road again to battle rivals Union Omaha for a USL League One match at Werner Park on Saturday, May 27th. The match kicked off just after 7pm CT.
Forward Madison and Union Omaha went back and forth to start the match, each trying to take hold of the contest early. Forward Madison's breakthrough came in the 14th minute when Aiden Mesias danced through the Omaha defense and slotted a shot home to give the 'Mingos an early 1-0 lead. Only 8 minutes later, Omaha equalized off of a cross into the box. Chances came for both squads in the later part of the first half, but the clubs entered the halftime break knotted up at 1-1.
The second half got off the just the start that Forward Madison Head Coach Matt Glaeser would have wanted with a Christian Chaney goal in the 52nd minute. After going in front, the 'Mingos absorbed Omaha pressure for much of the second half, with Jacob Crull and Mitch Osmond making significant clearances to keep FMFC in front. After 5 minutes of stoppage time, Forward Madison came out of Omaha victorious, 2-1.
Next up, Forward Madison will return home to play Central Valley Fuego FC on Saturday, June 3rd at 7pm CT. It's the Club's Pride Night, tickets are still available.
