
Fort Wayne Leads Series 3-1

FLINT, MI--- The Komets skated away with their third victory of the 2010 Turner Cup Finals, earning a 6-2 win over the Generals in front of 4,065 fans at Perani Arena.
The Komets jumped on the scoreboard just under seven minutes into the opening period when right wing Sean O'Connor notched in his fifth goal of the playoffs. Center Leo Thomas (4) gave the Komets a 2-0 lead after receiving a cross ice pass from O'Connor, beating Flint netminder Rob Nolan low to his left.
After a scoreless second period, the Generals started the third on the power play and took advantage when Pascal Rheaume (6) knocked in a rebound after Jamie Schaafsma shot the puck from the left circle. Flint then evened the score 29 seconds later when Mike Olynyk (3) scored with a shot from the point, beating Komet goaltender Tim Haun.
The Komets opened up the scoring in the third and took control of the game when Colin Chaulk (4), Matt Syroczynski (10) and P.C. Drouin (3) all added goals for Fort Wayne, giving them a 5-2 lead. They capped off the scoring when Thomas (5) scored an empty-netter with 1:37 left in the game, sealing the 6-2 victory over the Generals.
Haun earned his first win of the finals, and his second in three playoff appearances, making 33 saves in the victory while Nolan made 26 in the loss.
Both teams travel back to Fort Wayne for Game Five Saturday at 7:30 p.m., with the Komets having a 3-1 series lead over Flint.
