Vancouver Volcanoes News Release

Vancouver, WA- The Vancouver Volcanoes had their most successful IBL season in 2007, in large part to a commitment in the front office to put more talented players on the floor. Many members of Vancouver's 2007 squad are spending the off season with professional teams overseas, while two other Volcanoes were drafted into the NBA's farm system.

Both Abdoulaye N'Diaye (19.7 ppg) and Darren Cooper (18.6 ppg) were drafted by the Los Angeles D-Fenders of the NBDL. The D-Fenders are the affiliate for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Three former Volcanoes landed with German teams this off-season: Alex Hartman (TS Goeppingen), Osa Esene (Baskets Ludenscheid), Jamal Ward (TV Werne). Michael Lee earned a spot in Palestine with De La Salle Al Quds.

Vancouver Volcanoes owner Bryan Hunter-"We are pleased that some of our players were able to use their experience in Vancouver as a springboard to other opportunities in the off-season."

Hunter indicated that the Volcanoes would again bring in a talented roster in 2008, but with a slightly different focus. "We probably brought in too many guys last season," said Hunter, adding, "This year we will be putting an equal emphasis on talent and continuity-sticking with the same core group for the entire season."

The Volcanoes fourth IBL season kicks of in March of 2008.
