Former Oklahoma State Fullback Sione Fienefeuiaki Signs with the Brooklyn Kings

April 13, 2021 - North American Rugby League (NARL) - Brooklyn Kings News Release

BROOKLYN, NY - The Brooklyn Kings are excited to announce the signing of former OSU Fullback, Sione Finefeuiaki. The 6'0", 240-pound 24-year-old joins the Brooklyn outfit with almost 4 years of experience as a student athlete. Finefeuiaki's breakout saw him named as the top junior college fullback prospect by 247Sports in 2016. He continued to impress when he was named in the 2018 Academic All-Big 12 second team. His experience on the field extends to also having captained a game against Iowa State Cyclones in 2018.

"The new NARL opens more doors and opportunities for people like myself, and that's what's exciting to me - a new frontier of rugby league," Finefeuiaki said. "I'm excited to join the Brooklyn Kings and am grateful to experience New York City and play the game I'm passionate about."

Finefeuiaki is the first marquee homegrown talent to sign with the Kings ahead of the NARL's inaugural professional season. Finefeuiaki will relocate to Brooklyn in May, joining the likes of Eddy Pettybourne and others to-be-announced.

"Sione is a signing that really excites us," said Kings' Head Coach Matt Isherwood. "He's just the type of player we're targeting; young American talent with infinite potential. While we've received fanfare around the likes of Eddy Pettybourne, for obvious reasons, those signings can't have impact without raw talent around them."

The Brooklyn Kings and NARL are eager to welcome Sione to the club and have high hopes to continue developing the squad following the recently announced signing of Eddy Pettybourne.
