Former NBA first round draft pick Erick Barkley joins Santa Barbara

Santa Barbara, CA-Erick Barkley, the 28th pick in the 2000 NBA Draft, will play for Santa Barbara in their inaugural season in the International Basketball League. Barkley joins Shantay Legans and Adama Ndiaye on Santa Barbara's 2007 roster.

Barkley, 6'1", led St. John's University to consecutive NCAA Tournament berths, including a run to the elite eight in 1999. As a senior, Barkley averaged 16.7 points and 4.4 assists per game. Barkley spent two seasons with the Portland Trailblazers before being traded to the San Antonio Spurs, and again to the Chicago Bulls.

Barkley is currently playing for the Indiana Alley Cats (CBA), where he is ranked in the league's top 10 in scoring (19.1 points per game), assists (4.5 per game), steals (2.8 per game), and free throw percentage (.907).
