Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release

NORWICH, CT -San Francisco Giants RHP Matt Cain struck out 14 and tossed the second perfect game of the 2012 season by shutting out the Houston Astros 10-0 on Wednesday night.

His 14 strikeouts tied Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax for the most strikeouts ever in a perfect game.

Cain went 6-4 with a 3.35 ERA with the Norwich Navigators as a 19-year old in the Eastern League in 2004. Cain's perfect game was the first time a Giants pitcher hadn't allowed a hit since 2006 Connecticut Defender Jonathan Sanchez threw a no-hitter for the Giants against the San Diego Padres on July 10, 2009.

The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
