
Former Kansas City Wizard commits to Thunder

ST. PAUL, Minn. (Thursday, March 4, 2004) â The Minnesota Thunder announced today the signing of defender Chris Brunt from the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer. Brunt, 24, grew up in Omaha, Neb. and attended Southwest Missouri State University (SMS).
"Chris is a talented central defender with superb athletic ability. He comes to us with great experience in Major League Soccer and is a player with a great future," said Coach Lagos.
The 5-11, 165-pound defender was drafted by the Wizards in the third round of the 2002 SuperDraft; the 37th overall pick. Brunt played midfield for the SMS Bears but moved to defense when he turned professional.
Brunt was on the 2001 All-Tournament Team in the Missouri Valley Conference and after college returned as staff for the SMS soccer camps. He will also work closely with the Thunder camps.
THUNDER ON FOX SPORTS WORLD
The United Soccer Leagues announced the 20-game schedule for its 2004 Fox Sports World broadcasts. The Thunder will travel to Portland where they will battle the Timbers LIVE on Fox Sports World August 27 at 10 p.m. (CST).
JULY 15 GAME NO LONGER TBD
The July 15 game against the Calgary Mustangs has been confirmed and will be held at James Griffin Stadium, the new home of the Thunder in 2004. Kickoff will be at 7 p.m. The August 10 game site will be announced soon.
