
Former Indians' MacIntyre & Parse Selected in NHL Draft

The National Hockey League held it's annual June Entry Draft this past weekend, and among the selections were former Indians players' Derek MacIntyre and Scott Parse.
Soo Kewadin Casino Indians Junior A goaltender Derek MacIntyre, was selected in the 8th Round (234th Overall) by the San Jose Sharks. The 6'-2", 185-pound rookie netminder, led the Indians to a division title this past season after leading the league with 1.77 G.A.A., while finishing 2nd in the NAHL with 31-wins. MacIntyre was an NAHL All-Rookie and 2nd Team All-Star after posting a 31-3-2 record in 39-games for Indians. MacIntyre accepted a scholarship in Mid-March to play for Ferris State University of the CCHA.
Former Indians Midget AAA standout Scott Parse, was selected in the 6th Round (174th Overall) by the Los Angeles Kings. Parse played for the Midget AAA Indians during the 2001-02 season and racked-up 46-goals and 45-assists for total of 91-points. The 6'-1", 185-pound power forward, went on to play Junior hockey the next season for the Tri-City Storm of the USHL, and was named to the USHL All-Rookie Team. Parse made his freshman debut in the CCHA this past season, playing for the University of Nebraska-Omaha and led the team in scoring as a rookie with 16-goals and 19-assists for total of 35-points in 39-games.
Derek MacIntyre becomes the 2nd Indians player, to be drafted directly from the Indians after completing a season in the North American Hockey League. MacIntyre joins former Indians goaltender Ryan Miller, who was drafted in 1999 by the Buffalo Sabres. This is the 3rd consecutive season, the Indians have had a former player selected in the June NHL Entry Draft. The Indians have had a former player selected in the NHL Draft, six out of the last seven years.
