Florida Tarpons News Release
FT. MYERS, FL - The Florida Tarpons, of the Ultimate Indoor Football League, is making a splash with one of their first signings.
Former California Bear Robert Jordan is now a member of the expansion Tarpons. A two-time honorable mention Pac-10 selection, the receiver left school ranked seventh in career receptions (156) and ninth in both receiving yards (2,047) and touchdowns (13).
"We are grateful to have a player like Robert join our franchise," said head coach Michael Taylor. "As an expansion organization, we are committed to bringing Ft. Myers a championship team."
Following his Cal career, Jordan was a non-drafted invitee for the San Francisco 49ers, but requested his release to tend to a personal matter. He also spent time with British Columbia in the Canadian Football League.
The Florida Tarpons will be a member of the UIFL's South Division and will begin play in 2012. They will play their games at the Germain Arena. For more information about the Florida Tarpons visit www.floridatarpons.com or call 239-225-6374.
