Philadelphia Force News Release
The Series It will be a short week for the Force as they face off against their first non-NPF team of the season in the Stratford Brakettes. The Brakettes will be another tough challenge for the Force as they continue to work their way up the league standings.
What Just Happened In another bust week for Philly, the Force traveled to Akron, Ohio to face the Racers in a five game series. Every single game was close between the two competitive teams. The Force picked up a huge 8-4 win last Saturday, in game one of a doubleheader.
Team Leaders Amongst the Force's top offensive leaders is DeAnn Justice, who has lead her team since the start of the 2009 campaign. To date the slugger has a .289 average which includes 11 hits, three runs scored, a team high nine RBI's, three doubles, and two home runs.
Also helping out the plate this season is Emily Friedman. Friedman has been the Force's go to player on countless occasions this season. With a .275 average she has totaled 11 hits, four runs, and five RBI's, and also has one double to her name as well.
In the circle a slew of Force pitchers have guided the team's defense this season. Jessica Sallinger has seen the most time this season having thrown over 25 innings so far. With a record of 1-2, Sallinger has fanned a total 16 batters, which leads the team. Her ERA of 3.35 is amongst the leagues best and continues to drop every time she steps into the game.
A Look Ahead Following this short stint against the Brakettes, the Force will welcome the Racers to ECTB Stadium starting next Tuesday. The Force will be looking for some pay-back as they look to get on a path that will lead them straight to the post season.
