Force Shutout Brakettes 8-0 in Exhibition

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Led by a 3-for-4 performance by Clare Burnum, the Philadelphia Force earned their second straight win over the Stratford Brakettes Friday evening at ECTB Stadium in front of 505 fans.

Burnum who also had one run and one RBI paced her team to an 8-0 victory in their final exhibition game of the week. Also contributing to the shutout victory was Lillian Hammond who went 2-for-4 with two runs, and Tory Yamaguchi, who broke the game wide open in the second with a three run homer.

In the circle, the Force pitching staff proved dominant for the second consecutive day. Combined the four pitchers led by ace Megan Gibson surrendered just one hit Friday evening. They also totaled six strikeouts and one walk respectively.

For the Brakettes their lone hit came from Killian Roessner in the top half of the third inning.

Jackie Lawrence and Bailey Sanders each threw three innings a piece for Stratford. The two surrendered 10 hits and were only able to fan three Force batters all night.

The Force actually broke the scoreless draw in the bottom half of the first inning on a one run shot from Burnum. They then made it a 4-0 ball game on Yamaguchi's three run homer in the second. Philly secured the victory in the sixth with four more runs to take an 8-0 lead.
