Wichita Force News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force (3-0) are returning to INTRUST Bank Arena this Friday to take on the Bloomington Edge (1-2) for the first time in both team's franchise history.
The Force is the lone standing team in the CIF that remains undefeated in the 2016 regular season. After taking down the Salina Liberty, Duke City Gladiators, and Chicago Eagles, the team will look to continue to hold the unbeaten record this weekend.
Force fans will notice the absence of RB Quentin Benning from the starting lineup this week as he is recovering from an ankle injury that was sustained during the contest against the Chicago Eagles. In the contest, Benning led the team to a 54-45 win over the Eagles with three rushing touchdowns prior to exiting the game prior to the intermission break.
In result of Benning's injury, the Force has brought in newcomer Julian Hayes to the roster. Hayes spent three seasons of his collegiate career with the Monmouth Hawks where he later transferred to Southern Connecticut State University. During his time with the Hawks, Hayes recorded 2,575 yards on 618 carries for 32 touchdowns. Hayes has had stint appearances at the IFL level with the Cedar Rapids Titans and Billing Wolves.
Force Player to Watch: LB Jason Catchings
With three games under the team's belt, Catchings is leading the Force in total tackles with a count of 20 including 18 solo. Catchings has also recorded one interception.
Leading up to this game, Catchings has yet to record a sack this season and fans can except to watch him work through the Edge's offensive line to earn his first.
Edge Player to Watch: DL Antonio Ficklin
In the Edge's contest against the Chicago Eagles last week, Ficklin recorded a total of 9 tackles, including six solo. He also racked up 3.5 tackles for loss for eight yards and 1.5 sacks.
In his rookie professional season, Ficklin has earned name recognition throughout the league and will be a definite concentration for the Force offense.
