
Force Remain Undefeated in Nerve-Wracking Win over Eagles

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force (3-0) with a 54-45 win over the Chicago Eagles (0-3) at the UIC Pavilion on Friday night.
RB Quentin Benning and the Force offense started the contest with an undisturbed focus. Benning scored two consecutive rushing touchdowns in the first quarter to give the team a 14-0 lead out of the gate over the Eagles. WR Clarence Anderson came to life for the Force in the second quarter with a pair of touchdowns to assist the team to a 33-26 lead over the Eagles heading into the locker room.
The Chicago Eagles put up a fight on offense in the second quarter, after scoring only one touchdown in the first. The Eagles managed to find pockets in the Force's defensive line to earn two rushing touchdowns in the second quarter.
Returning to the field from the intermission break, the Force's overall performance began to steadily decline. Rookie mistakes and penalty calls added detriment to the Force's efforts to hold off the Eagles.
The Eagles found an opportunity to make a comeback in the game while the Force found itself struggle on both sides of the ball. Continuing to find deep receivers and pockets to the end zone, the Eagles capitalized on the Force's struggles and brought the game to a tie at 33 in the third.
With a seven-point lead over the Eagles, the Force continued to lack the team's typical defensive threat. The Eagles scored the first touchdown of the fourth bring the game within one. Force QB Stephen Panasuk answered back with a touchdown pass to WR Ronald Davis to stretch the game to eight. Without backing down, the Eagles found a quick receiver to score the team's last touchdown and with a failed two-point conversion, the Force managed to hold a two-point lead.
On the final kick-off of the contest, the Eagles attempted an onside kick. Ruled a dead ball after bouncing off the walls, the Force gained possession at the Chicago five-yard line. Capping off the team's final series, Panasuk found WR Brett Soft in the end zone to give the Force the final score of the game.
The Force will return to INTRUST Bank Arena on Friday, April1 to take on the Bloomington Edge for Faith and Family night sponsored by Young Life Wichita and Newman University.
