Allentown, Pennsylvania - The Philadelphia Force (11-23) took game two against the Arizona Heat (17-25) on Thursday, August 10th at ECTB Stadium at Bicentennial Park. Stephanie VanBrakle had four strikeouts for the Force, as the home team's offense exploded for nine runs on 13 hits, defeating April Valdez and the Heat by a score of 9-3. Carri Leto and Sarah Fekete had three hits a piece for the Force and shortstop Chelsea Sepncer blasted a three run home run, her first of the season.
The Heat put pressure on the Force defense early when Catalina Morris walked and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Crystal Farley. With a runner in scoring position, Nichole Thompson singled to put runners on first and third with one out. Toni Mascarenas then hit a line drive to shortstop Chelsea Spencer, who made a leaping catch followed by a play at third by Emily Friedman ending the Heat threat.
Fekete and Leto led off the game with consecutive singles before Spencer launched her first home run of the season over the left field fence, giving the Force an early 3-0 lead.
After VanBrakle retired the side in order in the top of the third inning, Lindsey Cameron (2-for-3) registered her second RBI of the series on a single to center field, increasing the Force lead to 4-0.
Ryan Realmuto and Cameron hit back-to-back RBI doubles in the bottom of the fifth inning, pushing the lead to 6-0.
The Heat scored their only runs of the game in the top of the sixth inning on singles by Toni Mascaranes and Heather Scaglione, cutting the Force lead in half, 6-3.
Jaime Dacey walked and advanced to second on a passed ball, before Fekete roped an RBI single to right field. The Force scored their final two runs of the night on Leto's single up the middle.
The Force will take on the Heat in game three of the series on Friday, August 11th at 7:05 PM.
