Georgia Force News Release

ATLANTA- The Georgia Force rolled over the Milwaukee Mustangs at the Bradley Center 57-48 on Saturday, bouncing back after a tough Week 6 loss to defending Southern division foe the Orlando Predators.

The Force opened up the scoring when quarterback Brett Elliott connected with wide receiver Maurice Purify for a 28-yard touchdown. While the Force started well, the Mustangs struggled to get their offense going as they fumbled and gave up a safety in the first two possessions. Their struggles continued when Elliott connected once again with Purify for a 14-yard touchdown pass. The duo's second connection of the game brought the score 16-0.

The Mustangs opened the second quarter strong as quarterback R.J. Archer marched the team down field. His 1-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Mike Aguayo brought the Mustangs within ten point deficit. The Force then capitalized on three additional takeaways, led by cornerback Tracy Belton with two interceptions, and topped off with a final interception by defensive back Ahmad Hawkins. Before the end of the half, Elliott and Purify connected for their third touchdown of the game, pushing the lead 29-6.

The offense continued a steady pace in the second half as Elliott opened the third quarter going 2 of 2 for 40 yards and a 5-yard touchdown pass to wideout Larry Shipp. The Mustangs countered with a 14-point stampede that included two touchdown passes from Archer. Despite quick success by the Mustangs, the Force answered back in a four-play 30-yard drive that resulted in 9-yard touchdown strike from Elliott to C.J. Johnson.

Milwaukee wasted no time in the fourth quarter as Archer connected with wide receiver Mykel Benson for a 22-yard touchdown. The defense stood tall after a failed onside kick put them in a short field. They forced a turnover, resulting in a 47-yard interception return for a touchdown by cornerback Andre Jones, his fourth interception of the season. Both teams exchanged scores later in the game, but a 7-yard touchdown pass from Elliott to Shipp put the game away with less than a minute to go. Archer added a late touchdown to bring the game within single digits, 57-48.

After a rough start, Archer finished the day 26 of 45 for 281 yards and five touchdown passes, while Elliott finished 20 of 31 for 246 yards and seven touchdown passes, which ties his career-high. Purify led the receivers with six receptions for 105 yards and three touchdowns.

The Force will return to action at 7:35 p.m. EST at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Saturday, April 30, as they face off against the Pittsburgh Power.
