Philadelphia Force News Release
Allentown, PA- A three-run home run by the Comcast Chicago Bandits' Jamie Clark was not only enough to put the Bandits on the board, but it also lifted the them over the Philadelphia Force 3-1 in the first game of the four game series at ECTB Stadium.
Neither team got on the board until the bottom of the fourth inning when Jenna Hall started a two-out rally with a single to left field. Rocky Spencer entered the game to pinch run for Hall. With a walk, Kristen Miller advanced Spencer to second base. Emily Friedman then hit a hard grounder between third base and shortstop. Shortstop Aileen Morales got her glove on the ball but it rolled far enough away for Spencer to score, putting the Force up 1-0.
The Bandits did not respond until the top of the sixth inning. Kristie Fox started the inning with a one-out single to center field. Ashley Carlson pinch ran for Fox before Rachel Rolden singled to right field. The hard grounder rolled past right field Trena Peel allowing Carlson to advance to third on the play. The next batter, Jamie Clark, cleared the bases with a three-run home run off of Force starting pitcher, Megan Gibson.
Gibson (7-2) took the loss for the Force (19-10). She gave up three runs on eight hits. Jodie Cox made her first appearance on the mound for the Force. Cox struck out two and game up one hit in 1.2 innings pitched.
Tracie Adix (2-1) picked up the win for the Bandits (16-13). Adix struck out three and only gave up three runs in three innings pitched. Jessica Sallinger picked up her first save on the season. The hurler pitched two innings, allowing one hit.
The Chicago offense was led by Clark who had two hits and three RBIs on the night. Stacy May and Rachel Folden each had two hits.
Jenna Hall had two hits for the Force.
The Force and the Bandits will be back at ECTB stadium to play game two of the four game series. The game is set to start at 7:05 p.m. The first 300 fans at the park will receive a Majestic replica throwback t-shirt.
