
Force draftee Gibson named Big 12 Player and Pitcher of the Year

Oklahoma City, OK- The Big 12 NCAA conference has announced that Megan Gibson of Texas A&M University has been named the conference's Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year.
Pitcher/first baseman Gibson is a first-round selection of the Philadelphia Force.
It is the only time in Big 12 history that the same student-athlete has won both awards.
Prior to starting Big 12 post-season play, Gibson has ranked up an impressive 30-1 record in the circle and a league second-best 1.08 ERA. The Spring, Texas native averages over seven strikeouts per game and ranks sixth nationally with her 30 wins. She leads the league in innings pitched with 208, shutouts with 14, and complete games with 29. As a hitter, she has been just as impressive. Gibson has compiled a .358 batting average with a team leading 13 home runs. She also has worked 45 walks, which leads the conference and is good for sixth nationally. The senior has started all 221 games in her collegiate career and has a career .367 batting average with 56 home runs and 180 RBIs.
The Force begin their 2008 campaign on Thursday May 29th when they host Team Netherlands at ECTB Stadium in Allentown, PA.
