Force Defeat Omaha Beef, Remain Top Seed of Northern Division

WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force (10-2) defeated the Omaha Beef (7-5) 56-50 on Saturday at INTRUST Bank Arena in a close contented game to close out the 2016 regular season.

The Force held the lead from the initial kick-off to the final whistle but the Beef were hot on the team's trail and brought the score to a tied ball game twice.

On offense, the Force gave a solid team effort featuring a majority of run game. QB David Olson led the team with two rushing and two passing touchdowns while RB Quentin Benning and RB Julian Hayes contributed one rushing touchdown each.

Wichita's special teams unit was led by K Jordan Drake as he went six-for-six on PATs and four-for-four on field goal attempts including a 40-yard completion to end the first half.

The Force also had a balanced defensive effort led by DB Dontra' Matthews who recorded 11 total tackles and assisted on a tackle for loss. The defensive line, including Matt Moss, Brandon Jenkins, Chaquil Reed, and James McCartney, put the pressure on the Omaha offense combining for three sacks and combing for 16 total tackles. McCartney closed out the game with a safety to give the Force the six point win.

This Omaha defeat official knocked the squad out of post-season play and gives the Bloomington Edge the No. 2 seed and the Sioux City Bandits the No. 3 slot. The two teams will go head-to-head on Saturday, June 11 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum.

The Force will have one week bye before returning back to INTRUST Bank Arena to host the winner of the Edge versus Bandits contest in the 2016 Champions Indoor Football playoffs on Saturday, June 18.
