Wichita Force News Release
WICHITA, Kan. - The Wichita Force have signed three players from open tryouts held earlier this month. Running back Mikhail Lindsay, defensive end Derrick Lawrence Jr., and defensive back Darien Anderson will compete for a spot on the Force's 24 man roster this February in training camp.
Anderson was a standout defensive back and safety for Ottawa University. In his 2 seasons with the Braves, Anderson started 22 games and ended his collegiate career with 10 interceptions, 25 pass break ups, and 65 solo tackles. He was named to the 1st team All KCAC in 2015 and a USA College Football NAIA All-American. Anderson is a native of West Pittsburgh, California and attended Los Medanos College before transferring to Ottawa. At 6'0 and 195 lbs., Anderson has great size and good hands for a defensive back.
Lawrence Jr. was a tackling machine for Tabor College. In his 4 season with the Bluejays, Lawrence totaled 224 tackles, 22 sacks, and 46 tackles for loss. He earned 1st Team All KCAC honors in 2014/2015 and was named a USA All-American those same years. In March, Lawrence was invited to participate in an NFL combine hosted by the New Orleans Saints, where he ran a 4.8 and participated in drills as a linebacker. Lawrence, 6'2 and 260lbs, is a natural defensive end, but will compete in training camp at both end and linebacker positons.
Lindsay spent last season with the DFW Hawks, a semi pro indoor team in Texas. With the Hawks, Lindsay played both sides of the ball as a running back and defensive back. The 5'10, 215 lbs. running back is a native of Wichita and played collegiately for Butler County Community College. Although he has signed with the Force on offense, Lindsay has the ability to play multiple positions. With the Grizzlies in 2007, Lindsay was an All-Conference linebacker.
Season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased online at www.selectaseat.com or by calling 316.425.3009. For the latest player signings and more information on the Force, visit www.wichitaforce.com, like the team on Facebook, or follow them on Twitter (@wichitaforce). s.
