Flying Chanclas Fan 18 Batters During Friday Night WinÃâÃÂ

Flying Chanclas de San Antonio News Release
SAN ANTONIO - Fans were treated to a dominant performance from both the pitching staff and the Flying Chanclas offense. The pitching staff struck out 18 batters while the offense scored 12 runs on 13 hits. They defeated the Amarillo Sod Squad 12-3.
After a scoreless first inning, the Sod Squad jumped out to an early lead in the second inning. The leadoff runner reached base on a fielding error before coming around to score on an RBI single.
That would be the only lead Amarillo would have on Friday night. In the bottom of the second inning, the Flying Chanclas took the lead with a two-run inning. Ian Bailey started the inning with a solo homer to left field. Zac Vooletich reached base on an error and later came around to score on a ground out.
The Sod Squad tied the game with a run in the third inning. Boris Pena reached base on a walk before being driven in on an RBI double.
San Antonio regained the lead after scoring a run in the fourth inning. Cole Modgling was hit by a pitch to start the inning. Modgling later scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Rody Barker.
The Flying Chanclas tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Modgling picked up an RBI after drawing a bases loaded walk. Cole Posey drove in two runs with an RBI single.
San Antonio improved their lead with three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Vooletich drove in a run with an RBI single. Jonathan LaCourse drove in a run with an RBI single. Lastly, Modgling recorded his second RBI with a single to right field.
Alec Martinez was the starting pitcher for the Flying Chanclas. He began the night by striking out the side in the first and second innings. He recorded the win and recorded 12 strikeouts in five innings of work. AG Ayala recorded three strikeouts in two innings of work. Evan Maldonado punched out three batters in two innings. The pitching staff combined for 18 strikeouts Friday night.
The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improve to 27-7 on the season. They will wrap-up their regular season at home on Saturday, July 31st against the Victoria Generals. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m.
