Flying Chanclas Come from Behind to Defeat Amarillo

SAN ANTONIO - Following a thrilling game on Wednesday night, the TCL Flying Chanclas outlasted the Amarillo Sod Squad in a come from behind victory Thursday night. San Antonio wins by a final score of 7-6.

The Flying Chanclas got out to an early lead after the first inning. Cole Posey drew a lead-off walk and advanced to second base following a fielding error that allowed Ryan Flores to reach base. A pair of wild pitches forced Posey to score the game's first run.

In the third inning, Amarillo plated two runs and took their first lead of the night. Kolby Lunsford, the Chanclas starting pitcher, allowed four consecutive base hits to start the inning. Two runs came across to score before he could record an out.

San Antonio regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning after batting around the order and scoring three runs. Flores drove in a run with an RBI single. Augie Ramirez drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Lastly, Ian Bailey drove in a run with an RBI single. The Flying Chanclas took a 4-2 lead.

Lunsford was pulled after five innings of work. Cale Wagoner was the new pitcher for the sixth inning. Amarillo regained the lead against Wagoner after scoring four runs on three hits during the inning. After six innings, the Sod Squad had a 6-4 lead.

The Flying Chanclas continued their comeback effort in the eighth inning and regained the lead. The offense plated three runs on four hits. Warren Laster drove in a run with an RBI single. Laster later scored the tying run on a wild pitch. Jalen Battles drove in the game winning run with an RBI single.

Jarek Wells records the win after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. Connor Schmidt converted the save after pitching a scoreless ninth inning.

The San Antonio Flying Chanclas improve to 26-7 on the season. They are back in action Friday, July 30th against Amarillo. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
