TODAY'S GAME: Game three of a four-game series against the Daytona Tortugas (CIN) to open the second half (1-1)...Game three of a 10-game homestand against Daytona, the Dunedin Blue Jays, and Tortugas (1-1)...Florida is coming off a 1-2 series defeat to the Jupiter Hammerheads to close out the first half...Third of five series (18 games) against the Cincinnati Reds' affiliate, including nine at Osceola County Stadium...Florida finished 7-7 against Daytona in 2017, including 5-2 at home.
TODAY'S STARTING PITCHER: 23-year-old Jeremy Walker makes his 14th start of 2018 in game three of the four-game set against the Daytona Tortugas on Saturday afternoon...The 6'5" hurler earned his first win since May 15 in a 7-0 victory over the Jupiter Hammerheads on June 19 at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium...The right-hander set a career high with eight innings pitched, while scattering five hits, walking one and striking out four on 96 pitches (69 strikes)...Saturday will be Walker's second career start against the Tortugas...The product of Gardner-Webb took the mound on opening night against the Cincinnati Reds' affiliate, allowing two runs on four hits, three walks and four punchouts through 3.2 innings of work.
FIRE FROGS BLANK TORTUGAS TO EVEN SERIES: The Florida Fire Frogs snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Daytona Tortugas with a 3-0 victory at Osceola County Stadium on Friday night. The win was the first time Florida had prevailed over Daytona since opening night.
Cristian Pache paced the offense with two runs driven in on the night, including a solo shot to left to give Florida a 1-0 lead. The long ball was the first hit of the game for the home team, and was the first run Florida scored against Wennington Romero on the season after 15.2 innings.
The 19-year-old outfielder struck again in the fifth inning with a run-scoring single to short, bringing home Ray-Patrick Didder from third for the insurance run. Didder would score again in the seventh on an RBI single from Shean Michel to the contest's final tally.
LET'S TURN TWO: Daytona had at least one base runner in seven innings on Friday, but Florida squashed any rallies by turning four double plays...The home team's defense turned twin killings in three consecutive innings, stretching from the fifth thorugh the seventh innings.
MULLER'S TRIFECTA: Kyle Muller scattered five hits while handing out four walks in game two of the four-game series, but also struck out four batters...The 6-foot-7 hurler earned his third consecutive victory at the High-A level after dropping his first decision with Florida on May 27 against the Tampa Tarpons...The Dallas native is riding his second three-game winning streak of the season, with the first coming from April 16 through May 3 while with the Rome Braves (A-)...Friday was also Muller's third quality start as a Fire Frog, matching his total with Rome this season.
OFF TO A FAST START: The Fire Frogs and Tortugas turned in another quick contest on Friday night...The two teams have averaged just two hours and 22 minutes per-game through the first two matchups of the second half...Florida's average game time was two hours and 32 minutes in the first half.
