Five Different Machine Players Tally Four Points, But Ohio Falls to Atlanta, 18-17

COLUMBUS, OH - The Ohio Machine fell in overtime, 18-17, to the Atlanta Blaze on Saturday afternoon at Ohio Dominican University, their first loss at home this season. Despite being down three goals with less than four minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, the Machine were able to force their second overtime game of the season.

A two-point goal by the Blaze at 7:35 in the first quarter gave them a lead they did not relinquish, despite the Machine tying the game twice in the fourth quarter and pushing the game to overtime.

This game brought the league's top three scorers head-to-head for the first time this season. Tom Schreiber and Marcus Holman of the Ohio Machine posted one goal and two assists plus a 2-pt. goal and one goal and three assists, respectively. Kevin Rice of the Atlanta Blaze recorded four goals and four assists.

Jake Bernhardt (2g, 2a), Mark Cockerton (4g), Marcus Holman (1g, 3a), Tom Schreiber (2pt goal, 2a), and Steele Stanwick (1g, 3a) each recorded four points to lead the Machine's offense. Scott Rodgers recorded 14 saves on 31 Blaze shots.

Mark Matthews and Kevin Rice led the Blaze's offense with six and four goals, respectively. Adam Ghitelman recorded 14 saves on 30 Machine shots.

Despite the loss, multiple Machine players reached a milestone in their individual careers. Scott Rodgers recorded his 200th MLL save, Greg Puskuldjian won his 300th MLL faceoff, and Mark Cockerton earned his 50th MLL point.

The Machine return to action next Saturday, June 25, against the Rochester Rattlers at 5:00pm at Panther Stadium. The game will air live on Lax Sports Network.
