November 28, 2007 - Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL)
Mon Valley Thunder News Release
The Youngstown Steelhounds of the CHL (Central Hockey League) today called-up rookie goaltender Dustin MacDonald from the Mon Valley Thunder of the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League (MAHL).
MacDonald, 21, is the first player from the Mon Valley Thunder of the MAHL to be called up to the AA level. The 5'11, 185 pound MacDonald was 1-4-1 with Mon Valley this season with a .859 save %.
"Dustin saw a lot of shots so far this season. He has progressed well and has all the basic tools to be a successful at any level he plays. He has an inexperienced team in front of him and he kept us in many games. His promotion is well deserved.", said GM/Head Coach Brian Cersosimo.
Dustin is a native of Rankin Inlet, Canada, where he is the first Inuk (Eskimo) goaltender signed to a professional contract and only the third Inuk (Eskimo) to play professional hockey along side Jordon Tooto of the Nashville Predators in the NHL and Terrence Tooto, who played in the ECHL. Prior to turning pro, MacDonald played in the Saskatchewan JR A Hcokey league, where he holds several goaltending records.
"He is a great young talent and I feel he will do well with the Northeast Division leading Steelhounds", Cersosimo said.
