August 17, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Tucson Toros News Release

Chico, CA-The Tucson Toros defeated the Chico Outlaws 11-3 Sunday night with 17 singles and a pair of doubles to take two games from the three game series. Just one night after Toros Outfielder Curt Miaso's four hit night, Catcher Luis Apodaca decided to go one step further with a perfect 5-for-5 performance, with three runs scored and three RBI.

Apodaca wasn't alone with his multi-hit game as six Toros enjoyed more than one hit in the lopsided affair, including two hits from Skip Adams, Lino Garcia and Miaso, and three knocks from Dustin Young and Andre Marshall. Marshall scored three times and drove in two with both of the squad's extra-base hit.

Starting Pitcher Lorenzo Barcelo earned his team leading 7th win with seven innings of 2-run ball. The righthander struck out five Outlaws in the game, giving him 85 on the season which is good for second in the GBL.

With their second consecutive win the Toros extended their lead for first place in the GBL Southern Division over division rival Orange County, .636 to .577. The Toros will have an off day Monday as they travel to Yuma where they will take on the Scorpions for a three game series beginning Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. Tucson time.
