First Annual Edmonton Rush Capital Cup Tournament this Weekend

Edmonton, AB---The Edmonton Rush will host over 30 minor lacrosse teams in the First Annual Edmonton Rush Capital Cup Tournament this weekend at the East Soccer Centre (Victoria Trail) and Rexall Place. The tournament features teams in Novice, Pee Wee, Bantam and Midget divisions from across Western Canada and local Greater Edmonton Council Lacrosse .

The mandate of this tournament is to provide a first class minor lacrosse tournament, promoting physical wellness through team sportsmanship and friendly competition. Teams have the opportunity to compete in a first class box lacrosse tournament focused on the needs of each team.

"This weekend gives us the opportunity to connect with the minor lacrosse community and promotes our game to the future stars of professional lacrosse" states President Gord Sawyer.

Each division highlights teams from out of province. The Pee Wee "A" Division features the New West Minister Salmonbellies coached by former NLL Colorado Mammoth defender player Rich Catton. The Bantam "B" Division will feature a battle for western champion rewards with a team travelling from Kamloops, BC with another team travelling from Thompson, MB.

Tournament games starts Friday, June 29 and finish Monday, July 2 with the medal rounds in Rexall Place (tournament schedule attached).

In between games players and coaches will enjoy many activities that will include most accurate shot competition, radar gun (hardest shot) competition and the most popular event the watermelon smash. Rush defender Jarrett Toll will be on site Saturday, June 30, 11:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
