Final 8 Awaits Manchester
March 25, 2008 - American Basketball Association (ABA)
Saint John Riptide News Release
Barre, Vermont: The Manchester Millrats (27-11) are headed to Quebec City to compete in the Final 8 of the 2008 ABA Playoffs.
Manchester received a bye by virtue of its #2 ranking in the final ABA Power Rankings. The Millrats open up on Friday at 5:00 pm at the Expocite' Pavillon de la Jeunesse. They are awaiting the results of a play in game, between the Montreal Royal and the Jersey Express, to determine their first round opponent.
The Millrats rival, the Vermont Frost Heaves, are the tournament's #1 seed. The two clubs could only see each other again this season in the tournament finals.
The Millrats are on a 14-2 streak after injuries, overseas leagues, and altercations had taken their toll, and GM Ian McCarthy was forced to retool the team in midseason. Mainstays Anthony Anderson and PJ Young were both named as ABA All Stars, while newcomers Al Stewart, Charles Mason, and Cedric McGinnis have made significant contributions as starters.
