FC Tulsa Drops Preseason Finale to Sporting Kansas City II, 2-1

TULSA - In its final preseason tune up before the 2020 USL Championship season, FC Tulsa suffered its only preseason defeat, a 2-1 loss to Sporting Kansas City II. The fellow USL Championship side was awarded a penalty in the second half and converted to break a 1-1 tie and come away with the victory.

FC Tulsa midfielder Ariel Martínez, who subbed on in the second half, equalized the match in the 62' minute from a cross from forward Panin Boakye. It was the first goal for Martínez in Tulsa colors as one of the club's most high-profile signings of the season.

After three wins and two draws in the preseason, Saturday's match was the first loss suffered In the six preseason matches.

MARTÍNEZ FINDS THE NET

Ariel Martínez was one of a few big names that was signed by FC Tulsa this season to boost the club on the pitch. In the 62' minute, the Cuban midfielder scored his first goal for Tulsa with a chipped effort over the keeper. It was Martínez's first appearance since FC Tulsa's match against Oral Roberts Univ. when he took a slight knock.

BOAKYE STAYS HOT

Panin Boakye has had a productive week. With an assist on Martínez's goal, Boakye finished the two-match week with a goal and two assists. Prior to this week, Boakye had not had a goal or assist for FC Tulsa.

NEXT MATCH

FC Tulsa will start its 2020 USL Championship regular season on the road against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, March 7 at 9:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast locally on My41 Tulsa and nationally on ESPN+.
