FC Tucson looks to extend its unbeaten streak to four matches as it travels to Tennessee for a matchup against Chattanooga Red Wolves SC this Saturday at David Stanton Field. In the first meeting between the two teams on May 18th, FC Tucson defeated the Red Wolves 4-0. The win was the largest margin of victory for any team in USL League One.
Last Saturday, Tucson moved to sixth place in the table following an impressive 3-1 win over Greenville Triumph SC. Forward Devyn Jambga recorded his second brace of the season with goals scored in the 20thand 58thminute.
Defender Kyle Venter registered his third goal of the season in the 50thminute off of an accurate through-ball from Jamael Cox. Goalkeeper Carlos Merancio collected five saves on the day.
For the first time this season, FC Tucson had four players (Jambga, Jones, Stripling, Merancio) named to the USL League One Team of the Week for Week 17.
Chattanooga Red Wolves SC enters the match following a bye week. On July 13th, the side played to a 1-1 draw against Forward Madison SC. Chattanooga currently sits fourth in the table (6-4-6, 24 points) and enters the match on an eight-game unbeaten streak.
Three Peat
For the third consecutive week, forward Jordan Jones was named to the USL League One Team of the Week. Jones recorded a pair of assists and completed 14 of 19 passes in the club's 3-1 victory over GVL Triumph.
Make Every Shot Count
FC Tucson currently ranks first in the USL League One with a goal conversion rate of 18%. In its last three matches, FCT has scored eight goals on just 27 shots.
Holding it Down from Box to Box
Midfielder Colin Stripling received his first Team of the Week honor following an exceptional outing against GVL. The Scorch Plains, NJ native won 12 of 14 duels, went 7-for-7 on aerial duels and made nine recoveries and three interceptions.
Golden Boot Race
Forward Devyn Jambga broke away from the three-way tie for first place in the club's Golden Boot Race. Jambga currently leads Tucson with five goals, followed by Devin Vega, Kyle Venter and Jordan Jones with three goals.
Ironman Watch
Midfielder Jamael Cox increased his minutes total to 1,170 following his 13thstart versus Greenville Triumph SC. Defender Kyle Venter ranks second on the club with 1,080 minutes, followed by Devyn Jambga with 1,019 minutes.
