Extreme Makeover: Manager Edition

March 4, 2008 - South Coast League (SCL) News Release

(Macon, GA) The South Coast League of Professional Baseball announced its line-up of managers today for the 2008 season.

"This year's managers fit the bill in terms of what we look for with our field leaders; someone who can work with and help develop a young player into a prospect for an affiliated team to pick up and hopefully make it to the big leagues one day," said league CEO, Jamie Toole.

"Each manager brings an extensive history of working with young players of all levels, and they bring a work ethic that exemplifies our league's goals as they pertain to player development."

This year's managers are Chad Parker (Macon), Buddy York (South Georgia), Greg Mucerino (Aiken), and Reggie Harris (Anderson).

Parker and York both served in assistant roles for their respective SCL clubs in 2007 and now move up to take the reigns with the departure of their former leaders. Mucerino was an assistant for the Bradenton Juice. Reggie Harris is making his SCL debut in 2008.

"All four of our managers are excited and committed to continuing the work we started in 2007," said James Gamble, Director of Baseball Operations.

"The South Coast League ranked in the top quarter of independent leagues last year with the number of players signed to Major League Baseball affiliated contracts. With eighteen guys moving up last year, we hope to grow that number even larger in the league's second season. These managers can help us reach that goal."
