EPHL back in action starting Thursday night in Brooklyn

December 15, 2008 - Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL) News Release


The Jersey Rockhoppers had their best week of the season going 2-0. The 'Hoppers defeated Danbury 6-5 on Thursday (12/11) and Brooklyn 5-4, in overtime, on Saturday 12/13. Jersey improved to 7-4 on the young season. The Brooklyn Aces (1-0-1) kept their hold on first place by improving to 10-1-1. Danbury went 1-1 on the week, losing to Jersey on Thursday before defeating Hudson Valley 7-2 on Saturday. The Hudson Valley Bears had another tough week losing to both Brooklyn and Danbury.

EPHL Player of the Week

Forward Tony Resendes of the Brooklyn Aces is the Eastern Professional Hockey League Player of the Week. Resendes had a six point week, scoring three goals and adding three assists in two games. In only seven games with the Aces, the Wilmington, Massachusetts native has 13 points (4 goals & 9 assists). The twenty-one year old forward began the year with Winston-Salem in the SPHL.

EPHL Goaltender of the Week

The Jersey Rockhoppers Nick Niedert has been named the Eastern Professional Hockey League Goaltender of the Week. The twenty-six year old Hudson, Iowa native stopped 65 of 74 shots last week leading the Rockhoppers to two victories. On the year, Nick is 7-4-0 with a 4.13 goals against average and a 90.2% save percentage.
