NLL National Lacrosse League

Entry draft & combine weekend update

September 6, 2008 - National Lacrosse League (NLL) News Release

(Boston, MA) The National Lacrosse League 2008 Entry Draft and Player Combine Weekend is well underway. Earlier today, forty of the top prospects participated in the league's Player Combine at TD Banknorth Garden in Boston. The arena is home to the expansion Boston Blazers, the host club for this year's event.

The day's activities culminated with the Player Combine game. The forty players were divided in two teams (Red & Black) and played in a 60-minute scrimmage (four 15-minute quarters). The Red team won, 19-13. Red was led by a six-point effort from Johns Hopkins University standout Paul Rabil, who had a goal and five assists in the game. Black was led by Daryl Veltman (Hobart College) who tallied seven points on two goals and five assists.

Speculation among members of the league's media is that either Veltman or Rabil will be the #1 overall selection on Sunday. The Blazers currently hold the top overall selection. To find out who becomes the first overall selection, watch the live webcast at NLL.com on Sunday starting at 11am ET.
