Boston, MA - Emily Field and Rachel Llanes have signed contracts with the Boston Pride for the 2016-17 season, General Manager Hayley Moore announced Friday. Field and the Pride agreed to terms on a one-year, $11,000 contract. Llanes and the Pride agreed to terms on a one-year, $12,000 contract.

"Llanes is the epitome of competitor," said Moore. "She's great at face-offs and adds versatility to our roster. Rachel's speed, skill and grit make her incredibly hard to play against. We are happy to welcome her back."

"I am so excited to be back with the Pride this season," said Llanes. "It'll be another fun year; I'm looking forward to building off of what we accomplished last season. More importantly, I am honored to be a part of this league and grateful to have the opportunity to continue growing women's ice hockey and being a part of history."

Llanes scored 7 points (3g, 4a) in 17 games with the Pride last season, including two game-winning goals.

"Emily Field is a player who will surprise you in an instant, but she is very good at doing the little things consistently to put other players in a great spot," Moore said. "She's an incredible teammate and person we are lucky to have in Boston."

Field scored 7 points (4g, 3a) in 18 games with Boston in 2015-16. The forward graduated from Boston College in 2015.

"I'm very excited to be back in Boston again this year," said Field. "I had such a great experience playing for the Pride and Coach Bobby Jay last year. I'm looking forward to picking up where we left off."

Restricted free agency began on April 1 and lasted until April 30. Free agency began May 1 and lasts until July 31. The 2016 NWHL Draft was on June 18.

About the National Women's Hockey League (NWHL)

The NWHL is the first professional women's hockey league in North America to pay its players. The inaugural season began October 11, 2015 with the Founding Four: Boston Pride, Buffalo Beauts, Connecticut Whale and New York Riveters. The Boston Pride became the first team in NWHL history to raise the Isobel Cup on March 12, 2016.
