Ellertson, formerly Frimpong, (women's soccer, 2001-2004) was honored at the ceremony along with the 2005 National Championship volleyball team, Kristina Kraszewski (women's tennis, 1997-2001), Benji Olson (football, 1995-1997), Eldridge Recasner (men's basketball, 1987-1990), Jennifer Spediacci (softball, 1997-2000).
"We are excited to welcome such a heralded group into the Husky Hall of Fame," said Elliot Silvers, Executive Director of the Big W Club. "These former student-athletes all enjoyed tremendous success at the University of Washington and are proud Husky ambassadors."
It took years of hard work and dedication for these athletes to make such an incredible accomplishment.
"College soccer helped mold me into the player and person I am today," reflects Ellertson. "It was in those four years I learned to push myself physically and mentally. Leslie and Amy, my coaches, to this day are my heroes. They taught me a ton about the game and about myself. I want to say thank you to them."
When asked about how she got the news, she responded, "Leslie gave me a call this summer. I was so excited when I got the news! She and I got a little choked up!"
Bob Rondeau, the "Voice of the Huskies" hosted the event with food provided by El Gaucho, Seattle's premier steakhouse. The ceremony began with a walk on the purple carpet with Husky celebrities and a dynamic video presentation of the current induction class and Hall of Fame greats. The reception included a mix and mingle with Hall of Fame members and Husky greats along with a surf and turf dinner by El Gaucho complimented with wine provided by Alexandria Nicole Cellars. Guests also received a swag bag with items from Starbucks, El Gaucho, and other exciting local businesses.
It was a night to remember for everyone that attended, especially the honorees. "Last night was one of the coolest nights in my soccer career!" said Ellertson. To be among some of the Husky athletes was so inspirational. I felt so blessed to have my family there supporting me. It truly was a night I will never forget."Ellertson said, For more information on the Hall of Fame and this year's class, visit www.gohuskies.com/heritage.
