Elkhart lands 2006 IBL All Star game and championship tournament

The International Basketball League, a second year professional basketball league-announces that Elkhart Indiana has landed the 2006 IBL Championship Tournament & All Star Game. "Daimon Beathea has worked very hard to land this event"Â said IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilio "but it was the City of Elkhart and the strong community support that factored most into the decision"Â. "We are excited about an excellent opportunity not only for our city but for our region to extend our season into the playoffs"Â said Daimon Beathea, "the city prospers from a great event like this"Â.
FORMAT FOR THE ALL STAR GAME & CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
"¢ Every IBL team will be invited to the post season tournament.
"¢ Event will be held at the North Side gym in Elkhart Indiana "¢ The first round will last from Thursday night through all of Friday. The first two playoff games are scheduled for Thursday night at 6pm and 8pm. "¢ An IBL three point contest will occur at halftime of the Thursday 6pm game. Each team will enter their two best three point shooters. "¢ An IBL dunk contest will occur at halftime of the Thursday 8pm game. Each team will enter their best dunker. "¢ The first round games will continue on Friday morning and will run through Friday night. The second round and third round will begin on Saturday morning and will run through Saturday night.
"¢ On Sunday, the All Star Game and the Championship game will be played at 1pm and 3pm. "¢ Each team will nominate between one and three All Stars "¢ The primary reason for this chosen tournament format is efficiency for teams.
"¢ Holland Michigan put in a bid as well. Holland will be considered for the 2007 event.
