February 10, 2022 - United Soccer League One (USL1)
FC Tucson News Release
The midfield is the heart of the game, and FC Tucson has added another player to strengthen the team in the center of the pitch.
Elijah Wynder will head to Tucson for the 2022 season on loan from Louisville City FC, pending league and federation approval. Louisville retains the option to recall Wynder after June 1.
"Tucson has great players, coaches and facilities, and I'm very happy to be here," Wynder said.
Wynder joins the club after making history in Louisville in December 2020 when he became the club's first player to complete the path to pro, going from an academy player to full first team signing at 17 years old. He made his USL Championship debut in August 2020, before signing as a full first team member, at 17 years old.
A month after signing with the first team, Wynder suffered a season ending injury, missing the entire 2021 season.
The now 18 year old, played high school soccer with Louisville Collegiate where he was a standout player, being named the Courier Journal Boys Soccer Player of the Year in 2019. He scored 24 goals and tallied 12 assists during this season.
Before signing with Louisville City's academy, Wynder played with the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy-Kentucky.
"He'll be a great fit here," said Head Coach Jon Pearlman. "A great young player with incredible talent as an eight and we expect great things from him."
He is the 19th player on FC Tucson's 2022 roster. He joins six returning starters from the 2021 playoff team, including midfielder João Delgado, and new additions Tevin Shaw and Louis Perez.
