
Eight Players Take Part in All Star Game; Kevin Santana Wins HR Derby

We had a good showing at the All Star game. On the road for two games starting tomorrow before being home this Saturday and Sunday.
The Woodlands Strykers had eight players participate in the TCL All Star game last night in Kilgore. Alexis Garza, Matt Danton, Gandy Stubblefield, Brian Smith, Conner Fikes, Kevin Santana, Dirk Masters and Ricky Sanchez all participated in the event. Kevin Santana was the player that represented the Strykers in the HR Derby, and he did not disappoint as he would win the event with five home runs. The Strykers will now get back to playing games starting with two games tomorrow on the road against the Acadiana Cane Cutters.
The Strykers had three pitchers play in the game with Garza, Danton and Stubblefield. Garza gave up one run and recorded two strikeouts in one inning of work. In one inning of work, Danton recorded no strikeouts and no runs. Stubblefield pitched one inning and gave up two runs.
The Strykers other five players played in the field. Brian Smith was 1-2 with a RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning. He also had a stolen base. Conner Fikes was 0-2. Kevin Santana was 1-2 with a RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. Masters was 2-5 with a single in the bottom of the second and another single in the bottom of the fourth that scored two runs. Sanchez was 0-2 on the night.
"It was an honor to be nominated to be in the HR Derby and to have represented the Woodlands Strykers," Kevin Santana said. "I proud of our guys that participated in the All Star game," Owner and General Manager Ramiro Lozano said. "Our guys represented the team as well as the Woodlands community to the fullest of their ability. I am especially proud of Kevin who went out and won the HR Derby." "It felt good being an All Star and having the honor to get to play and represent the Strykers and playing with really good college ball players," added Dirk Masters.
The team now travels to the Acadiana Cane Cutters for two games on the road. After games against the Cane Cutters on Thursday and Friday, the team returns home to take on the Victoria Generals on Saturday and Sunday. The game Saturday is a "Saturday Drive" with 1/2 GA tickets with the donation of a nonperishable food item to be donated to Interfaith of The Woodlands. Sunday's game is a "Memorable Sunday" with the opportunity to play catch on the field post game (weather permitting).
