Edmonton Rush News Release

Edmonton, AB--Edmonton Rush General Manager/Head Coach Derek Keenan announced today that the club has put Franchise Player tags on its two veteran goaltenders - Matt Disher and Chris Levis.

National Lacrosse League teams are permitted to declare up to two players as Franchise Players. By doing so, teams ensure that the player(s) who would have qualified for unrestricted free agency remains with his current team for the 2010 season.

"Having both Chris and Matt on board gives us the best opportunity to win on a consistent basis," said Keenan. "I think we have the best goaltending tandem in the NLL. Both guys are solid veterans with the ability to win us games."

Disher was recently re-acquired by the Rush with the No. 12 selection in the NLL Dispersal Draft of the Portland LumberJax. The 32-year-old netminder from Arthur, ON, spent part of the 2008 season in Edmonton before being traded to Portland. Last season with the Jax, the 11-year veteran sported an 8-5 record while putting up career-best numbers with a 10.80 goals-against average and .792 save-percentage.

The six-foot-three, 240-pounder also registered 502 saves over 733 minutes of action - the third-highest totals of his career in both categories. Over 72 career regular-season games, Disher has a 13.48 GAA and a .747 save-percentage.

Levis joined the Rush as a free agent in 2009 after spending the previous three seasons with the Colorado Mammoth. The 32-year-old Windsor, ON, product finished his seventh NLL campaign with an 11.17 goals-against average and a .777 save-percentage. He also set career highs last season with 386 saves and 596 minutes.

Over his career, the six-foot-one, 213-pounder has registered an 11.89 GAA and a .765 save-percentage.
